Many thanks Guido Imbens (Stanford University | Nobel Prize Laureate Economics 2021) for the guest lecture at Mandeville Academy.
Our students loved the inspirational lecture. We noticed that a number of students were a little ‘star struck’ and others would have loved to discuss all evening. We especially enjoyed the personal introduction by Professor Imbens where he discusses his work with his family. Please take a look at this wonderful YouTube video: https://lnkd.in/eSueQA2q
Some good questions were asked by our (profoundly) gifted students. For example, by Makram Soufyan about Angus Deaton. Sanno went deeper into the AI applications and Hicham wanted to know more about causal inference. More questions followed from Kiki and Ties Oosterman about Professor Imbens’ statements during the lecture.
We hope that Professor Imbens has gained an impression of Mandeville as an intellectual haven, a pressure cooker for the (profoundly) gifted and an inspirational environment for our ‘most beautiful minds’.
We also would like to thank Jan De Wit for the introduction. What amazing!
And this completes the alpha and omega of Mandeville 2022-2023. The academic year was opened by Mrs. Sigrid Kaag, Minister of Finance and closed by Guido Imbens. The graduation ceremony will take place on June 28, 2023.
We look back on a great year. We can assure you that the academic year 2023-2024 will start with a big bang. You will hear more about that later.
Have a very good summer!
